late night shots

After dark, wind down from a long day and treat yourself to a late-night shot. Short measures of easy reading – each mixed with a dash of suspense.

‘When Fact and Fiction Collide’

A shot with hidden depths…exposing a crime writer who finds his own downfall written by a mysterious hand…right before his eyes.

‘If The Shoe Fits…’

A shot that packs a punch…a lady with a set of killer heels and anything but fairy tales in mind.

by Guest Author Laura Cation
‘Going Outside was Joel’s Only Hope’

A shot that may feel familiar…when you discover a boy whose only choice is to disobey the very instructions to keep him safe.

‘What Lies Inside?’

And…a final nightcap. A shot that keeps you guessing…a house with a mysterious door where one lady sees herself…over and over again.

My Review

What was it all about

This was an anthology of 4 suspenseful stories, 3 of which was written by author Charlotte Valentine, and one by Laura Cation.

Darkness pervaded into the stories as none of them was for the fainthearted.

How it made me feel

The one that caught my eye and wicked heart was Ghostwriter. Brilliantly captured with the strokes of the author’s pen, I loved how Charlotte made me want to laugh with evil laughter. Comeuppance had never thus far been written so well; it was everything my vengeant heart wanted.

The Good

Smooth writing, thinking outside the box, leaving the already-done up suspense formula far behind, the stories had something more hiding within the lines, teasing me with a pervasive need to read the book at one go.

Being 77 pages, I could finish it in an hour. So that added one book toward my Goodreads reading goal.

The Bad

For me, Ghostwriter and The Third Door were interesting. The rest two could be polished to make it as exciting. Nonetheless, they made an interesting read.

The Conclusion

I loved the book for the first story. So I would say it was time spent well.

I loved it
