I realized some things as I walked down in life, it is not the similarities which make us human but the differences which make us both human and humane. Over the years, I seem to have picked up quite a few of these quirks, some of them seem downright humorous, rest just seem to exasperate my family. Nonetheless, I still continue to collect both my quirks and my foibles

  • I love pens, and I buy them almost always when I see a stationary shop. Most of them are in my drawer quite unused till the ink dries up and then I dispose of them and buy new ones which I don’t use…. sheesh sheer waste but cannot resist.

  • I have 3 or 4 pens in my bag as I am sure that I will run out of it. Does it happen so? Nah!! My friends have me covered, they all give me their extra pens… Ah, this so enables my first quirk

  • My cutlery, the spoons and forks, always face in the same direction. My sister used to take pleasure in changing them, but now I seem to have let go of this quirk. My sister cured me, is it? Or is it buried deep down just to rise up someday

  • I love my car, and I keep checking if I have locked it. Once I was caught by my colleague going back to check it twice, and he made a show of walking up to me and checking my car… hehehe what embarrassment! But I still check my car sometimes twice

  • If and when I cook, I want the kitchen platform to be arranged with almost military precision, my brain can’t seem to think otherwise, but in rest of the rooms, I live in a mess. I can think better with a mess except in the kitchen and at my workplace. There I am known to throw away unwanted stuff if kept on my trolley like a frisbee

Why am I talking about my quirks, you ask? Because Robbie Yates book, The Kooky Kids’ Club reminded me of all of them. It also made me nostalgic for my school days, when I used to be the quiet one (I still am, but nobody seems to believe it now). I was different then, and I would like to believe that I am different now.
The quirks make us different, our differences give us our unique place on this earth and make us most interesting. Kids are quite ruthless, this book helps us to understand and accept that it is okay to be different and that we too have a place in this world.
This post is also for those kids and their mums to tell them, that we all have our weird points which nobody may understand as kids but it is what makes us beautiful as we go ahead in life.
Read the book, The Kooky Kids’ Club, join us on the blog tour which starts from 3rd December and continues the whole week through. Anyone who would like to do a post on their quirkiness is most welcome. I would love to know yours since all of you know mine. ME
I did receive my invitation, I thought it would get lost in the post, but trust Robbie to send it to me carefully. Do a post and let us know if you want to receive your unique invitation to the Kooky Kids’ Club, we are bad, we are rad, but it is what makes us a fad… Oh yes, the bad poetry is also part of my kookiness!!

      1. Most definitely. A lot of people seem to look for people like them to hang out with, I’m always looking for different people. Why hang with people who are the same? 🙂

  1. Cool post! 😉 We have many similar quirks… I have this kind of relationship with pens ever since I was a kid, I tend to be happy in the middle of a mess except when in work, and I’m always uncertain if the car is locked or not! 😂 I also love what you say about differences that make us unique. I think we should celebrate these little odd things about each other and not bully it. These are the things that make our world exciting instead of boring. 🌍💕

  2. What a lovely post. I feel like I know you so much better now, quirks and all. 🙂 Enjoy your membership in the club! Robbie is very talented, and so are you. Go kooky kids!

  3. Lovely post 🙂
    I love pens too!
I wish i was a bit more organized, at least in the kitchen, but i’m kinda messy everywhere 😀

  4. Awww, so cute.. quirks are really amazing and yeah it’s what makes us human… I’ll be posting mine tomorrow as part of and by the way, you and Robbie outdid yourselves with this.. I love this very unique way of sharing this. 💖💖

  5. Pens are a completely understandable and necessary part life and the cutlery definitely has to face the same direction. So not quirky just perfectly normal 😁😂

    1. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
      You got it right, baby!!!

  6. HA! Yes, the cutlery–must all be separated by size. Such a sweet post, you and Robbie make a good pair. Kinda had to chuckle when I read his poem, sweet, so like the little ditties my hubby pulls out of the air. Excited to be involved in the tour!

  7. Love the post and all your quirks!
Already shared that I drink Diet Coke first thing in the morning, but also my alarms and timers are all set so that last number is 8 and they must add up to an even number for example 5:58 6:28 and so on! Other than that I’m pretty much perfect, LOL!

    1. Ooooh those are not quirks, you are just mathematical and your brain works faster than……than…….than…..time? 😂😂😂😂 Where do you have the time to think so much….

  8. Very interesting post Shalini. Then it’s Shalini’s, which is special and very dear to me.
I share the pen thing. When I was in the Visa International advisory board, the meeting kit every quarter included MontBlanc pen. Then standard chartered got the pen company to engrave my name on a Montblanc pen given as an award. Thus I have a box of Montblac in collection.
I won’t even buy a single one at their price.
After reading your post, I took it out for a look and it has 6 montblancs, two cross, two parkers, one waterman and few others like Balmain, DuPont etc.
If I need to add, I have to buy and now I use only the plastic ball points now.
So feeling a bit sad about those montblancs gifted away.

      1. A hobby or quirk is a quirk or a hobby. Doesn’t matter if the object is different. I didn’t buy even a single one in the box. Still I regret the ones given away as gifts (recycling) after reading your post.
Now the chances of getting new ones are rare. But I will keep what I have.
Just an example of how you influence me. And I am happy about that

  9. I am just like you. Kitchen and bathroom have to be organized, but I live in chaos. It’s how comfort is controlled in my house. I know where everything is. Even if it’s in a pile of clothes.
I’d love to be part of the club !

  10. What a fun idea for a post! I loved that story about checking your car multiple times, I do that sometimes too 😂😂 I’ll have to think of a few good ones and post mine!

    1. Please do the post… I would love to read it… Mackie, that day it was so embarrassing… My colleague went around the car twice checking all the doors… Hehehe… But I still check my car surreptitiously now😜😉😉😂😂

  11. Wonderful post, Shalini. I like the one where you check twice. I actually do that too with anything related to security (locks and what not). I’ve heard stories of some people wasting 30 minutes or more just checking if their door is locked before leaving their home. But yes. It is definitely the little things like this that show how human we are and that makes everyone so special in their own way. Thank you for sharing! 🙂

  12. Well pens, yes, and notebooks and plastic rulers, clear files, folders, paper clips, erasers, paints, sketchbooks, notepads… love the stationary store! It’s a staple ;P

  13. I love how are minds work and sometimes seem so contradictory. Mess in one aspect but order in another… absolutely necessary. I think I have to give my while body a shake when my ‘mug cupboard’ is out of order, to get the fluster out… but I can’t be bothered by the garbage bin that needs to emptied! Hehehehe.
I love you darling… quirks and all!! 😘

    1. Aww…. I know you do… You havta… Your love is my greatest gift… I meant birthday gift both advanced and belated 😉😉😉😂😂😂😂😍😍😍😘😘😘❤️❤️❤️
