My review
I got fed up of dealing with the horror in my life so I decided to try fictional horror.
White Silence is classified as a twisty supernatural thriller and the blurb sounded great enough for me to pick it up. The book started well with the main character Elizabeth seeing aura and colors which help her to know the inner secrets of every living human she meets and some non living entities. She keeps her talent hidden and lives a normal life, gets married and suddenly her husband dies. She finds herself being forced to remain in the institution where her husband worked. She does find help from strangers and strange beings… And the story progresses ahead with twists and thrills.
The author Jodi Taylor has started the book pretty well, all the events which happen to Elizabeth are thrilling to a point till it suddenly stops being thrilling and becomes emotional. The book reads fast, chapters add to the story till they stop adding and become abrupt.
This book, whose storyline has so much potential is not explored fully. A thriller should thrill, a supernatural thriller should scare and thrill, events happening to the main character should raise goosebumps not an emotional background score.
This books reads as an amalgamation of four different short stories, till it ends so abruptly. I wouldn’t call it a cliffhanger but there is no completeness to the story. The ending was very weird, it felt as if the ending was written to create a “supposed” twist and the beginning of the next book…
The book which was supposed to be a supernatural thriller / horror falls short of even being a romantic suspense and I did not understand the need for events in the last few chapters. I could connect with the main character in parts but the last event made me so disconnected with her that I just flipped through the pages, barely reading all the words.
It felt as if this book wasn’t sure in which category it should place itself. The 3 stars are only for the plot and for the bits of suspense. This is the book one in the series, not sure if I would go for book two, if it is written in the same vein.
My rating : 3 stars

Elizabeth Cage is a child when she discovers that there are things in this world that only she can see. But she doesn’t want to see them and she definitely doesn’t want them to see her. What is a curse to Elizabeth is a gift to others – a very valuable gift they want to control.
When her husband dies, Elizabeth’s world descends into a nightmare. But as she tries to piece her life back together, she discovers that not everything is as it seems. Alone in a strange and frightening world, she’s a vulnerable target to forces beyond her control.
And she knows that she can’t trust anyone…
